When I was a child my parents, wanting to give me the best education possible, introduced me to books. My father was a blue-collar construction worker so there wasn’t a lot of money in the family budget to buy books. However, not far away was a grand storehouse of books of every kind. Once I signed my name on their membership roll, I could take home any book I needed—for free.

God’s storehouse is like a library which, according to Peter, contains all things that pertain to life and godliness. We can take whatsoever we need from all that God has—for free. This storehouse is not there because God needs it. All the wonders of the universe live in him. It’s not there because God was somehow forced to build it—nature was already a treasure trove that pointed to God. This great storehouse is God’s gift of Himself to us.

The Scripture say that in His presence, in this storehouse of God, is fullness of joy. There’s more joy, more comfort, more love, than there is room in the universe to contain it. But you must have a membership, your name must be recorded in His kingdom to access the storehouse.

I am tempted to tell you membership is free. Many Christians dare to do that. I find it less than honest. Salvation is not free. It comes at no initial cost to the recipient; God paid a great price to secure that for us. However, there are dues to be paid. In return for purchasing our salvation, God is due our entire body, soul, and spirit—no more and certainly no less.

You see God writes much of His story on lives. Those who love God bring those lives into the storehouse to share. Transformed lives are the meat that feeds the broken-hearted, the depressed, and the distressed. Each life story is a book about how God rescued the lost and turned them into something beautiful.

The Holy Spirit uses those redeemed souls to invite people at their wit’s end to prove God can and will do it all again just for them. When God takes a person into His kingdom and opens His storehouse, no one is satisfied with just giving a tenth in return.
