Alpha and Omega

The scripture says, when God breathed into Man, Man became a living soul. God fashioned our bodies from the clay in an image like unto His. He breathed into us His likeness—a living soul possessing a spirit. The clay will fall away. The soul and its spirit are eternal.
God declared Himself Alpha and Omega, but He is more than the beginning and the end. He is everything in between as well. In the same way, we are more than just a beginning and an end. Between those points there are three people. The person we were, the person we are, and the person we shall be. God sees all three of those people at any (and every) moment.
He knows what you’ve done. He knows the good and the bad. Nothing is hidden from God. He knows you’ve sinned. He knows how you feel about your sin. He knows what you think about Him. Without regard to whether you are sorrowful or proud of your sin, whether you believe in Him or not, He created a plan to forgive you and establish a personal relationship with you. The plan sounds simple, and it is from the outside looking in.
Step 1. God will accept His Son’s death on the cross as the death as payment for your sins. He will forgive you and resurrect you from the living death of sin to share His life.
Step 2. God sees who you are right now. If you’ve repented of your former life and made peace with Him, He has a plan for your new life. You can’t get to this step without completing the first step, though people try. This plan is designed to make something beautiful out of the ashes of your old life.
Michelangelo when asked about an angel he sculpted said, “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” God will carve away all old life of sin until a new creation is visible, not only to Him, but to all the world. At times, it’s a painful process. The old man doesn’t always die easily.
Step 3. God sees the person who will emerge from the craving process to flourish in a glorified spiritual body. You will not disappear into the Divine life like a drop into the sea. You will be the unique creation of which God was author and finisher. Eye has not seen, nor ear heard all that God has for you.
One thing is certain. Your soul will go on for all eternity in an intimate, loving relationship with a loving God. Or it will go on in eternal torment, irreparably separated from God. While you live between the Alpha and Omega of your life, you have a choice of what you do, who you are, and how you shape your eternity. Choose wisely.
